'COOKING WITH A CONSCIENCE'

Fiona learnt to cook with a wood fired combustion stove. Growing up on a farm, her formative years in the country instilled a respect for nature and the seasons, how food is grown and where it comes from. This shaped the philosophy she maintains today, food preparation with free-range, fresh, seasonal and 'real' produce is a life long investment in wellbeing, best shared with family and friends.

In a career spanning over 20 years, Fiona has extensive experience as a recipe developer, recipe tester and food stylist. Her work has featured in over 40 cookbooks, coveted food magazines, advertising campaigns, on food packaging and online.

As a food columnist Fiona worked for Sunday Life Magazine - The Age, and as a recipe developer and stylist she contributed to Gourmet Traveller magazine for ten years.  She has developed, tested and styled recipes published by Murdoch Books, Allen & Unwin, Five Mile Press and Penguin.

Fiona collaborated on Maggie Beer's cookbooks Verjuice and Maggie's Christmas, George Columbaris' Your Place or Mine and Cook with Us, as a recipe tester. She also developed recipes for the Penguin Bible cookbook series, Middle Eastern and Gluten-Free Dessert Bible and authored three children's cookbooks with Five Mile Press - Christmas, Easter and Halloween.

Extensive travel, her early career in catering and working at The French Kitchen cooking school alongside some of Australia's acclaimed cooks and chefs have shaped Fiona's cooking style and her signature work ethic of grace and precision.

A degree in Photography and experience in styling bring a dynamic visual perspective to her work.  Fiona's ability to combine sound food knowledge with an attentive and intuitive eye for lighting, detail and composition ensure her work looks as wonderful as it tastes.  Her recipes evolve through a well considered process.  They inform and inspire, they entice all the senses whether she is creating an everyday meal, a special occasion, to budget constraints or particular dietary needs.
